Breatheable and Polyol Based Hydrogel Food Packaging
Original language description
Packaging of fresh fruits and vegetables is one of the more important problems to keep them fresh for long run also to protect them from early spoilage / decomposition besides the factor about the use of recyclable or biodegradable packaging materials concerning of environmental issues. Plastic bags (polyethylene film) are the predominant material for fruit and vegetable consumer packaging. The film material "breathes" at a rate necessary to maintain the correct mix of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and watervapor inside the bag, moreover research has shown that the shelf life of freshness is extended considerably by the packaging . The PVP-CMC hydrogel films are biobased polyol which can be applicable in many areas such as food packaging , transdermal drugdelivery, wound dressing material etc. As breathability of packaging material is one of the important factor to enhance the self-life of fruits and vegetable, this article focuses to establish the suitability of the PVP-CMC hydrogel film
