Plasma surface modifications of structured polystyrene
Original language description
In this work is presented surface treatment of polystyrene for superhydrophobic effect. The surface modifications were done by two basic steps. The firest step was surface treatment by using time-sequenced dispensing of good/poor solvent mixture at rotation of treated substrate. It was prepared many types of pores (with different size and depth) on the polystyrene surface (due to variables - temperature, solvent concentration, dosing of solvents, etc.). The second step was surface modification by inductively coupled plasma with CF4 as process gas. The final results were polystyrene with hierarchical structured hydrophobic surface (micro structure with nano morphology). The water contact angles on these surfaces were up to 150 degrees.
