Effect of Carbon nano-additives on performance and stability properties of magnetorheological fluids
Original language description
Facile but effective approach to enhance poor sedimentation stability and difficult redispersibility of the magnetorheological fluids is based on the addition of stabilizating agents such as nanofillers. Other approach involves the synthesis of core-shell structures, however in the former method no special or toxic chemicals are needed thus it is preferable from the environmental point of view. In this study, the MRFs were stabilized with 1-3 wt. % of carbon nano-additives, such as fullerenes, multi-walled carbon nano-tubes, or graphene nano-platelets and further investigated in terms of their magnetorheological performance, sedimentation stability and redispersibility. The goal of this comparative study was to clarify the overal influence of these additives to bring novel information, which may be interesting from the practical point of view in designing of such fluids.
