Spontaneous Reaction of Dialdehyde Polysaccharides and Pyrrole for Fabrication of Sustainable , Conductive and Bioactive Materials
Original language description
The aldol condensation reaction between dialdehyde polysaccharides (DAPs) and pyrrole is described for the first time. lt allows a) facile decoration of DAPs by pyrrole and its derivatives; b) spontaneous chaining of pyrrole cycles along DAP chains and thus the formation ofDAP-pyrrole copolymers without any harmful reagents or procedures; c) fabrication ofhighly conductive polypyrrole composites with improved resilience. These materials could find applications in (bio)sensors, wearable electronics, and particularly as wound dressings due to strong antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects.
