    Multiactive Chitosan/Dialdehyde Cellulose Hydrogels for Wound Healing

  • Original language description

    Hydrogels based on partially re-acetylated chitosan crosslinked with sustainable dialdehyde cellulose and with covalently anchored polypyrrole were prepared. These composite hydrogels are non-cytotoxic, non-irritating, antibacterial, very good bioadhesive, and have conductivity similar to human tissues. They can also capture reactive oxygen species, frequently linked to excessive inflammation, enhance in vitro wound healing (migration assay), and have immunomodulatory effects related to neutrophil and macrophage stimulation.
