SUSTAINABLE ENERGY STORAGE: GREEN POLYMER ELECTROLYTES FROM SODIUM CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE AND PECTIN FOR EDLCS

  • Original language description

A novel plasticized biopolymer-based electrolyte consisting of pectin (PC) and Sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC) doped with lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) was developed for the electrical double layer application (EDLCs). The prepared electrolyte-based films were subjected to extensive physicochemical and electrochemical analysis to evaluate their ionic conductivity, structural properties, and electrochemical stability. Sample with 25 wt.% of LiClO4 revealed an ideal conductivity of 3.55 × 10−4 S cm−1, indicating its suitability for EDLCs application. When tested in an EDLC configuration, the electrolyte exhibited good capacitance, cyclic stability, and Coulombic efficiency. These findings demonstrate that NaCMC/Pectin/LiClO₄ electrolytes are promising, eco-friendly alternatives to conventional polymer systems for flexible and sustainable energy storage devices.
