Semi-conducting microspheres prepared from a glucose: A way to sustainable electrorheological fluids
Original language description
In this study, a glucose was used as a renewable precursor for preparation of a dispersed phase for electrorheological fluids. Using in sequence hydrothermal and thermal carbonization, the semi-conducting microspheres were prepared using only water and heat without excessive chemicals. Moreover, using thermal carbonization enabled tuning of the particle conductivity and thus optimize performance of their electrorheological fluids. This approach led to electrorheological fluids with sufficient electrorheological effect using sustainable system at the same time.
