The paper deals with the development of financing structural and regional policy of the European Union in relation with the issue of the European integration development in the economic and monetary area and with general economic trends in the world. Inthe paper, an analysis of the share of expenditures on structural and regional policy is carried out in relation to the EU budget according to individual financial tools in defined stages of its development in relation to programming periods and financial perspective of the EU.
