Gender Pay Gap in Different Sectors of Czech Economy
Original language description
The study is devoted the wage differences between men and women in the Czech Republic. It aims to determine whether and to what extent the unexplained gender wage gap varies in the different sectors of the Czech economy using classification NACE Rev. 2 and if so, identify the possibly causes of these differences. We use EU-SILC data for 2010. Firstly, we estimate average treatment effect on the treated for individual sectors of Czech economy which enable identify the unexplained part of gender pay gap.To identify the possibly causes of observed variability in ATT, we regress ATT (calculated for every category according to classification NACE Rev.2) by ownership (public or private sector), proportion of women in management, proportion of women in sector and proportion of small firms. We conclude that the unexplained gender pay gap vary in individual sectors of Czech economy. The estimated ATT ranges from -0.004 (NACE L-N) to -0.352 (NACE G).
