The paper deals with the topic of the European Union Innovation policy. By means of analysing the Lisbon Strategy and the new Strategy Europe 2020 in the area of financing research, development and innovation the paper deal with financig the enterprise innovation projects. Principles of financing innovation programmes (HORIZON and COSME) for the new EU budget period 2014-20 are described.
