Creating digital models and drawings represents a key stage of development and production preparation in the product lifecycle management systems of engineering companies. Creating and editing models or drawings is made through CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools with the support of other applications for performing simulations, analysis, preparation of manufacturing technology and quality management. A properly created digital model of the manufactured product, individual components or assemblies is essential for reliable use in all phases of the product lifecycle management. A model presents a virtual prototype, whose structure and properties may pose to the next stage of the life cycle in addition to a high efficiency of use also risks involving increased costs of implementing change management because of the behavior of the model in high level assemblies, or the risk of leakage of corporate data due to improper organization of data export to third persons.
