5.2 Corporate Social Responsibility: Humans vs Robots

  • Original language description

Corporate Social Responsibility, especially the care of company´s employees, is the trend of today´s world. Successful integration of corporate social responsibility into business practice can bring synergies to businesses and consequently competitive advantages. The benefits of CSR can be divided financial and non-financial, for example greater attractiveness for investors and business partners and access to additional capital, increase employee productivity and loyalty. On the other hand, automation and robotization are two big themes that move working life. Supporters of the development of artificial intelligence believe that it is an opportunity for a new economy and new jobs. But opponents think that employees will lose their jobs due to robots. The influence of automation and robotics on today is rather tied to the idea of easing work, increasing the efficiency of production itself and supporting the lack of employees. The use of Industry 4.0 with automation and robotics support is now mainly in the automotive, transportation, logistics, energy and healthcare sectors. The paper focuses on companies Amazon and Foxconn and describes how the employees and the robots work together. Amazon provides a glimpse of the future in many of its refill centres, where people and robots work harmoniously to deliver packages to customers on time. It makes life easier for co-workers by performing less long and desirable tasks.
