Original language description
The paper shortly reviews the history of knowledge development on health significance of water calcium and magnesium over the last 150 years. The main focus is to provide update review on scientific evidence of health effects either low or high concentrations of calcium and magnesium in drinking water and health and aesthetic benefits from "optimum concentration" of both elements. Finally problems with insufficient regulation of both elements in drinking water are discussed and possible measures how toensure the minimum and optimum calcium and magnesium levels in drinking water are recommended.
