The paper concisely characterises the main forms of rural houses, both timbered and made of bricks, in the area around Rokycany, including their transformation approximately from the mid-19th century to the second half of the 20th century. Taking into consideration the fundamental context of urban development, the authors base their remarks on the knowledge gleaned from field surveys and documentation of rural structures, as well as by studying an extensive collection of archival photographs kept in thephoto archives of the Pilsen-based office of the National Heritage Institute.
