The topic of this study is collaborative benchmarking of municipalities in the Czech Republic. The main reason to choose benchmarking at the municipality level is the fact, that municipalities have been using collaborative benchmarking actively since 2003 (project Price and Efficiency) and especially 2004 (the first project of Benchmarking Initiative or benchmarking of indicators of sustainable town development). Concerning benchmarking of municipalities, i tis possible to find successful as well as less successful project, good as well as bad experience which can be generalized.
