Coal waste dumps are very important and characteristic element of the landscape influenced by the deep coal mining. The aim of this publication is to provide an analysis of the sequence of temporal evolution of coal waste dump bodies in the Ostrava city.Knowledge of possibilities of these mine waste bodies is important for a wide range of human activities. Mine waste materials are valuable building materials, which are used mainly for embankment bodies to road communications, etc. Remnants of coal waste dumps, subsequently serves as foundation soil. Very important is the knowledge of the state of coal waste dump for land use planning. It is used to determine the concept of landscape elements in the landscape after mining.
