Original language description
This paper compares the costs of transporting goods on a semi-trailer on its own axes (direct road freight transport) with those of a transportation system of combined transport. The transportation costs with regards to combined transport are also determined on the basis of differing train capacity utilization rates. On this basis, the boundary is determined at what capacity utilization rate a combined transport line can be operated without any financial subsidies, whilst maintaining its competitiveness to direct road freight transport. The results of the comparative analysis are applied to a selected route as part of this paper.
