APPLICABILITY OF EXISTING STUDIES FOR PEDESTRIAN MOVEMENT ANALYSIS AND PUBLIC SPACE QUALITY IN SMALL TOWNS
Original language description
Nowadays, the movement of pedestrians in the parterre of settlements is a very important and topical issue in the area of landscape planning. Through planning Smart Cities, walking peoples are an indispensable service to the environment, because without them the inner urbanized area misses its basic use. Pedestrian movement in the settlements is the basic and evolutionary oldest type of human movement. It has many advantages-it minimizes the burden on the environment, is beneficial to health, builds social and community ties, does not restrict others, etc., so it must be supported. One of the forms of support for pedestrian movement in the settlements is to increase the area's security, make the public space more attractive and also minimize conflicts between pedestrians and motor or other traffic. In the Czech Republic, the specific area in landscape planning is the planning of the development of small towns that, due to their size, do not have public transport. Many of these towns have processed some studies and documents-a study of barrier-free movement across the town, parking analysis, street or road passports, etc., which can serve as a basis for further analysis and studies. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the content and usability of these studies for the analysis of pedestrian movement and the quality of public space in small towns in the Czech Republic on the example of two towns, which participates as a partner in a project on safe territory pedestrian permeability.
