Original language description
The chapter considers the post-war violent “frame of mind.” Violence in its many forms was not only “brutalisation” caused by German atrocities, and it was more than merely an uncontrolled outburst of emotions and hatred. Moreover, we consider violence as an integral part of the (re-) establishment of national states in post-war Europe and emphasise its central, perhaps even creative role in this process.
