    Data model for metadata of records of experimental data measured using molecular biophysics methods

  • Original language description

    Systematic organization of scientific data relies amongst others on rigorous definition of data model for metadata. The development of the Molecular Biophysics Database (MBDB) required definition and coding of such data model(s), with focus on the FAIR principles of scientific data management and robust description of commonly required metadata items to support mainly findability, interoperability, and reusability of the database records. The data model enables description of key parameters for any experiment of molecular biophysics (in the general part) and of parameters specific for a particular biophysical technique, such as Microscale Thermophoresis (MST) or Biolayer Interferometry (BLI), in the method-specific part. The data model is accessible in YAML and JSON formats at https://github.com/Molecular-Biophysics-Database/mbdb-model and applied in MBDB at https://mbdb-data.org/.
