IAEA Regional Training Course on Inter-Comparison of Active Radon Monitors, Reference: TN-RER9153-1801032
Original language description
Under the Contract between the IAEA and the SURO v.v.i. (NRPI) Reference: TN-RER9153 -1801032 The Second Regional Training Course on Inter-Comparison of Active Radon Gas Monitors was organised in the NRPI radon chamber during days 20-21 September, 2018. In total, 13 laboratories from ten countries, took part in the intercomparison and they submitted 21 different continuous monitors (9x AlphaGUARD, 7x RAD 7, 3x RTM-1688-2 and 2x SUN Nuclear). With respect to the course topic relevant presentations concerning QA/QC of used continuous monitors and currently used measurement techniques and procedures in the Czech republic were introduced by organizers. Simultaneously, inter- comparison of continuous radon gas monitors was organized in the SURO v.v.i. ( NRPI) radon gas chamber. The inter-comparison was focused on investigation of consistency results of laboratories both to respect to the NRPI reference value and between themselves, respectively and influence of ambient conditions on behaviour of the monitors, as well. During one-day exposure reference level of measured radon gas activity concentration was kept constant and adjusted close to 300 Bq/m3. The key attention was paid to influence of changes in ambient conditions on response of monitors from the standpoint of equilibrium factor F and unattached fraction of EEC (fp). The changes of ambient parameters were ranging within realistic ambient conditions. All the participant have received a relevant Report.
