An analytical X-ray CdTe detector response matrix for incomplete charge collection correction for photon energies up to 300 keV

  • Original language description

The distortion of the measured energy spectra caused by incomplete charge collection in the CdTe detectors was corrected in a similar way as the other general measuring artefacts, i.e., with the help of an analytically built detector response matrix. The effect of incomplete charge collection was described quantitatively by the Hecht equation and was incorporated into the detector response matrix. The parameters of the Hecht equation, the mean free paths of electrons and holes, were optimized for a particular detector. The performance of the model was tested on a line spectra and an energy resolution of 0.96 % +/- 0.28 % was achieved at 344.27 keV. Application of the correction to measured X-ray spectra leads to quantitative and qualitative agreement of the measured corrected spectra with the theoretically calculated ones. The method was applied and verified for X-ray spectra up to 300 kV.
