    The Dataset of the CeiLinEx 2015 Ceilometer Inter-comparison Experiment

    The data set contains harmonized data (e.g., aerosol profiles, cloud information, and housekeeping data) from CeiLinEx2015 (Ceilometer performance Experiment at Lindenberg 2015). The Campaign was held at the Richard-Aßmann Observatory in Lindenberg between 1st of June 2015 and 15th of September 2015. Six types of ceilometers (CHM15k, CHX15k, LD40, CL31, CL51, and CS135, each type represented by two instruments) were investigated. Firmware versions and instrument settings of the CL31, CL51 and CS135 instruments were changed during the experiment period. The research lidar RALPH (Raman Aerosol Lidar PollyXT at Hohenpeißenberg) was additionally operating as reference. Further Ancillary data are available. The data of the different instruments were converted into a common NetCDF4 data format. Measurement with special settings (covered receiver, horizontally tilted instrument) and erroneous data are flagged, eliminated from the time series, and stored separately.
