Potential changes in forest soil carbon stocks under different climate change scenarios
Original language description
Detailed inventory data (n=3930) of the soil organic carbon up to 30 cm depth have been used to estimate the forest soil’s carbon content in altitudinal vegetation zones that are occurring in the Czech Republic. The effect of global warming represented by the use of different emission scenarios on the soil organic carbon content was investigated. Using the most pessimistic climatic model, scenario losses in C from the Czech Republic forest soils or central Europe, eventually, could be as high as 13% of the current forest soil’s carbon stock.
