Hygroscopicity-driven light-scattering enhancement in Lille
Original language description
The scattering enhancement factor f(RH) characterises the alteration in aerosol particle light scattering as a function of relative humidity (RH). Specifically, it quantifies the influence of water uptake on light scattering, mostly depending on particle chemical composition and diameter, and provides valuable insights on the hygroscopicity of aerosols. The f(RH) is determined by measuring the particle scattering coefficients under different humidity conditions, often performed using tandem nephelometer systems. We present an overview of f(RH) based on an ongoing field campaign over the ATOLL (Atmospheric Observation in Lille) platform located on the rooftop of a University of Lille building (50.6111 °N, 3.1404 °E, 70 m a.s.l.).
