In the first part of the paper the causes of the formation of avalanches are described and the snow cover transformations induced by the movements of skiers are outlined. The example of two avalanches re-leased by skiers in the Eastern Alps helps to evaluate the impact of skiers on the stability of snow on a slope, and that in the context of other natural factors. On the basis of the obtained findings, the conditions under which an avalanche may get released by the movements of skiers are evaluated.

V první části článku jsou popsány podmínky vzniku lavin a změny ve sněhové pokrývce, způsobené pohybem lyžaře. V další části textu je vliv lyží na stabilitu sněhové pokrývky v kontextu přírodních podmínek vyhodnocován na základě dvou příkladů lavin, uvolněných lyžaři ve východních Alpách. Ze zjištěných skutečností jsou odvozeny podmínky, za nichž může pohyb lyžaře porušit stabilitu sněhové pokrývky a vyvolat lavinu.
