    Optimization of a TLD system for establishment of national reference TLD laboratory for patient dosimetry in diagnostic radiology in the Czech Republic

    ICRU and IAEA recommendations for patient dosimetry in diagnostic radiology have recognized TL detectors most appropriate for dosimetric measurements on patients. Uncertainty of measurement should be less than 10 %. TLD system chosen for patient dosimetry consists of a manual reader Harshaw 4500 and detectors LiF:Mg,Cu,P. The system was optimized to achieve the required accuracy. Tested properties were batch homogeneity and individual detector response repeatability, fading properties, energy dependenceof packed detectors, linearity, residual signal stability and reader stability. Calibration procedure was established according to ICRU and IAEA recommendations.

    ICRU a IAEA doporučení pro dozimetrii v rentgenové diagnostice doporučují použití termoluminiscenčních dozimetrů pro dozimetrická měření na pacientech. Nejistota měření by měla být nižší než 10 %. Vybraný TLD systém se skládal z manuální čtečky Harshaw 4500 a detektorů LiF:Mg,Cu,P. Systém byl optimalizován pro dosažení požadované přesnosti měření. Testované vlastnosti byly homogenita šarže, stabilita odezvy, fading, energetická závislost,, linearita a stabilita residua. Kalibrační procedury byly ustanoveny v souladu s IAEA a ICRU doporučeními.
