We compared the the intensity of inflammatory reaction and activation of prolactin and corticosterone during adjuvant arthritis in male Long Evans rats and Lewis rats that are characterized by genetically muted corticosterone release. Our results showedmore robust inflammation in Long Evans than in Lewis rats, in spite of higher corticosterone activation in Long Evans, indicating that corticosterone has amodulatory, but not decisive function in the developmnet of arthritits.
