Hlavními cíli projektu ELI je vybudování nejmodernějšího laserového zařízení a realizace řady výzkumných a aplikačních projektů zahrnujících interakci světla s hmotou na intenzitě, která je asi 100 krát větší než současné dosažitelné hodnoty. ELI bude dodávat ultrakrátké laserové pulsy trvající typicky několik femtosekund (10-15 fs) a bude produkovat výkon až 200 PW

Project ELI Phase 2 was in realization from 1. 1. 2016 till 31. 12. 2018 with total budget over 1,8 billions CZK. Project was follow up of the project ELI Phase 1. The main goals of both phases were to build, equip and to put into operation the new laser facility in Dolni Brezany. All the main goals were fullfiled. In the current time the building is finished and completely operating. All the technologies were delivered and tested from the parameter point of view. The user operation is starting on the laser and experimental stations.
