Hadrons in the nuclear medium

Project goals

The main objective of the project is a theoretical study of the properties of hadrons in the nuclear medium. This involves as a pert of problem the description of multibaryonic systems and the examination of meson-baryon and baryon-baryon interactions. The project concerns mainly: 1) the description of the characteristics of exotic atoms (pionic and kaonic atoms, in particular), 2) the calculation of hypernuclear production rates in various reactions, 3) the study of the behaviour of strange baryonic systems under extreme conditions.

  • Project results evaluation

Study of kaonic atoms and nuclei provided us with information about the (anti)kaon-nucleus interaction. An optical model of antiproton-nucleus interaction was developed. J/Psi decays were studied and properties of heavy mesons calculated.
