International experiment ATLAS-CERN
Project goals
The aim of the project is to ensure financial support for Czech academic and university institutions participating in the research of structure of matter and its basic components using detector ATLAS at LHC (Large Hadron Collider) collider in the European centre for particle research CERN, Geneva, Switzerland. The project supports all activities of czech teams in experiment ATLAS and provides necessary funding that would allow czech researches to contribute appropriately to the effort of the ATLAS Collaboration. These activities include responsibilities connected with: running the detector during data taking and support of the subdetectors which we helped to build in the past, upgrade of those subdetectors during 2 year LHC shutdown, providing adequatecomputing infrastructure necessary for storing and analyzing the data. Fulfillment of the duties grants us an access to unique data and allows our physicists to contribute to the production of world class results in high energy physics

Project results evaluation
Project secured the participation of Czech research institutions in the LHC experiment ATLAS at CERN in years 2013-2015. Thanks to the support, the researchers from the CR were able to contribute adequately to the effort of the ATLAS Collaboration, and have their share on unique, world class result produced by the experiment, including new measurements of properties of newly discovered Higgs boson.
