A comparative study of crown-root initiation at cellular and molecular levels in two cereals: barley and rice

Project goals

The goal of the present proposal is to understand at the cellular and molecular level the initiation and development of crown-roots in cereals, more specifically rice and barley, adapted to different climates and environments. This comparative study aims to unraveal common and/or divergent mechanisms of root system development. For this purpose, the initiation of crown-roots will be followed at the cellular level in both species by the mean of various histological approaches, including a very unique method coupling mechanical sections and optical sections and allowing a 3D reconstruction of the structure under investigation.

    Srovnávací studie zákládání nodálních kořenů u rýže a ječmene na molekulární a buněčné úrovni

    Cílem tohoto návrhu je pochopit na buněčné a molekulární úrovni iniciaci a tvorbu nodálních kořenů v obilovinách, konkrétně rýži a ječmeni, jakož to zástupců přizpůsobených různému podnebí a prostředí dostupnosti vody. Tato srovnávací studie si klade za cíl odhalit společné a/nebo odlišné mechanismy vývoje kořenového systému. Za tímto účelem bude iniciace a tvorba nodálních kořenů sledována na buněčné úrovni u obou druhů různými histologickým přístupy, včetně velmi unikátní metody spojující mechanické krájení s optickou disekcí (CM/CO) umožňují 3D rekonstrukci struktury orgánu či jeho části.
