New market chances for steel structures by innovative fastening solutions
Annotation in Czech
The objective of this project is to promote and encourage the wider use of steel in building structures where until now only concrete was used. This is achieved by simple efficient standardised steel to concrete joints allowing for quick and easy connection of steel beams to concrete walls and steel columns to foundations with the capability to compensate large tolerances. The research aims at a simplified manufacturing of these joints and at an enlargement of the design strength and the ductility to allow for a wide range of practical applications. This improvement in connection design will result in reduced production costs and reduced construction time, which will decisively enhance the competitive position of the European steel construction sector.
