Every concrete structure has several parts with some form of discontinuity - bracket, opening, anchorage, etc. The objective of DR-Design is to create a new innovative software tool for the automated and optimized design and assessment of discontinuity concrete regions. DR-Design will allow engineers to propose appropriate concrete dimensions as well as location and amount of reinforcement in an efficient way, providing safe and economical designs of discontinuity regions. The main result of the project will be DR-Design, a mass market computer software implementing newly developed method that will be useful for common designers as well as for expertized ones. DR-Design will be commercialized as a new module of IDEA StatiCa Concrete and it will be linked to other software via BIM interface. DR-Design will fill a market gap, since no commercial software allows the design of general discontinuity regions until now.

Project results evaluation
All the planned tasks in the DR-Design project have been met, especially three types of IDEA StatiCa Detail product including reinforcement design tools, ultimate and serviceability limit states, BIM links, test cases and technical documentation. In 2018 50 licenses were sold to 8 countries.
