The major goal will be the production of electronic items with higher quality and better feeling properties made only of renewable resources. The application is directed mainly to electronic items of consumer and industrial use such as switches, sensors, control items, actuators, or the like. In a first step, a sealed-in sensor for temperature control will be produced aimed at serving a large electronics producer followed by integrated circuit items, integrated switches, clutch sensors, and more control units. This type of materials is new, not described in the state-of-the-art literature including patents, and an own patent has been filed. The materials have to be thoroughly tested in injection moulding tests under near-serial conditions, to obtain property values, and to simulate service conditions.

NAFIGATE Corporation in corporation with four partners are implementing the project "Sealed electronic devices by one-shot reaction injection moulding of 100% renewables" from 1.11.2020 to 1.7.2022. The project focuses on a new type of materials for the production of sealing elements of electronic devices achieved by an injection process and by using one-component technology for the outer casing. The project also includes the development of moulds and technology for fast cycles at low injection temperatures. The material is based solely on renewable resources. This new type of material made from biomass will be used to produce enclosed electronic devices with higher quality and better properties.
