Development of a Finite Element Model of the Human Thorax and Upper Extremities
Annotation in Czech
Deaths and fatal injuries are present on the European roads daily. To avoid fatal consequences of the traffic accidents, it is necessary to develop safety systems. Such systems might be developed using virtual human body models. The advantage of such models against dummies is that the human models are able to describe injury mechanisms and injuries relatively precisely. The aim of the project is to develop a biomechanical model of the thorax and the shoulder complex based on the finite element method for wider spectra of population. With help of such model, it will be more easy to optimize restraint systems and so contribute to the decreasing of the fatal traffic accidents and deaths on the European roads.
