We want to investigate the biological, ecological and epidemiological components of vector-borne diseases (VBD) introduction, emergence and spread, and to propose innovative tools for controlling them. We have selected the main groups of arthropod vectors involved in the transmission of vector-borne diseases in Europe: ticks, mosquitoes, sandflies, and biting midges and also rodents of direct importance in public health. We have put a strong focus on vector- and disease-quantitative modelling to assessclimate or environmental change scenarios and vector or disease control strategies.
