Project goals
Project focuses upon the field of medical care and prevention in children and adolescents in the Czech Republic, particularly in the area of obesity management. One of the project goals is to offer a comprehensive strategy for prevention of development of metabolic syndrome in children by means of timely diagnostics and obesity treatment. Result of successful implementation of this strategy is future decrease in economic burden to the health insurance system in the Czech Republic connected with obesitytreatment and its complications. On relatively low costs, the project provides an effective prevention tool ? it offers to build a network of workplaces able to efficiently help and support children affected by obesity. In the Czech Republic there is currently no coordinated system targeting children affected by obesity (it is currently mediated through sporadic ambulances of pediatricians and children endocrinologists or clinics for adults, which is unsatisfactory.
