Monitoring the environment of man-made lakes: what can fisheries data and models tell us?
Annotation in Czech
The project aims to contribute to the development of decision tools that could allow us to monitor and predict the impact of harvesting on fish stocks in freshwater reservoirs. These tools will be based on data, gathered on the history of exploitation inselected water bodies in southern and central Bohemia, and on mathematical models and computer simulations that are currently being developed by the applicant and the partner institution in Norway. The project will provide feedback to the management andenvironmental authorities as to how the procedure of collecting and processing of data can be improved in the future. Well-developed theoretical background for monitoring the status and predicting future dynamics of fish populations in Czech reservoirsis currently lacking, and the project will transfer knowledge available in Norway and required to develop the research field in the Czech Republic. The project complements the activities of the Czech partner (ecological surveys of reservoirs in the C
