BUT will research a novel single-stage three-phase isolated AC/DC power factor correction converter with a novel circuit topology and SiC power devices. The proposed converter will combine the PFC stage and the DC/DC stage into a single power stage, decreasing the complexity and dimensions, with a possible improvement of efficiency. The target application of the developed 3-phase converter supplied by 3x 400 V AC is a battery charger with a high power/volume ratio and high efficiency for industrial machines such as electric manipulators, aerial platforms and mini excavators with battery voltage up to 96 V and charging power up to 20 kW. In parallel, BUT will cooperate to develop a new software and integrate the converter into the smart environment, connected to the remote supervising dashboard and connecting to the local environmental IoT LP WAN. For the correct charging process, the battery charger will be equipped with control electronics exploiting a standardized communication interface (typically CAN bus) enabling mutual communication between the battery pack and charger. Collected data from chargers and batteries will be processed in Cloud infrastructure.
