    The main objective of this project is to extend the already established collaborations, exchange knowledge via internships, educate talented young scientists, and prepare the foundation of a consortium that could compete for European research projects. The overall research objective is to determine the response of trees at the histological and molecular level following the single and combined attacks of harmful organisms to the respective hosts in the field and mesocosm experiments. Our ambition is to find the biochemical and anatomical mechanisms of tree defense against harmful and aggressive pathogens causing significant economic losses in forests, to reveal new biochemical and phytopathological knowledge, as well as knowledge on the interactions between plants, pathogens, and pests.
