    The main aim of the project is to develop carbon gels co-doped with N and S heteroatoms using sol-gel polymerization route with in-depth understanding of the individual roles and properties of heteroatoms and their functionalities evolved in carbon structure, and their applications in EC electrodes. To achieve the main aim of the project, the following objectives are planned. • Preparation of 3-D gel networks from polymer precursors containing heteroatoms (S, and N), understanding of reaction mechanism, and carbonization to make carbon gels, along with tailoring porosity in carbon nanostructures to suit for EC electrodes. • Study on presence of heteroatoms and their evolution of different linkages or functionalities in carbon matrix along with structural and morphological observations. • Investigating roles of porosity as well as heteroatom co-doping in carbon gels for EC applications
