Memory of Graveyards: Exploration and Documentation for Sustainable Care for the Sepulchral Monuments in the former Sudetenland
Project goals
The aim of the project is to create and to implement the tools for the identification, comprehensive exploration, documentation and presentation of sepulchral monuments on partly abandoned historical cemeteries with cultural value, endangered with hazard or fundamental change of their substance. The project focuses mainly on the border regions of the Czech Republic due to the concentration of relevant objects and localities in the former Sudetenland, where the cultural continuity has been significantly interrupted in the last century. This applies to thematic priority 1.1.a). One of the goals of the project will be verification of created method, as well as model processing of selected localities into a specialized map. Thus, the various levels of documentation and passportization of cemeteries and collections of sepulchral monuments will be presented using a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach consisting of cultural-historical, art historical and material aspects with respect to maintenance and sustainable care, according to thematic priority 2.1.c). The experience will be shared mainly through the main outputs: methodize, specialized map, and the exhibition with critical catalogue dedicated to methods of identification and exploration of sepulchral monuments as documents of the cultural development of former Sudetenland before 1945.

Projekt se zaměřuje na vytvoření a zavedení optimálních nástrojů pro identifikaci, komplexní průzkum, dokumentaci a prezentaci sepulkrálních památek, nevyužívaných či zčásti opuštěných hřbitovů, které jsou nositeli kulturní a památkové hodnoty, avšak v současnosti jsou či mohou být ohroženy zánikem či takovými změnami, jež by zásadně změnily jejich podstatu. Vzhledem ke koncentraci podobných lokalit v oblasti někdejších Sudet, kde došlo v moderní historii k výraznému přerušení kontinuity osídlení a tedy i kontinuity kulturní, se projekt z geografického hlediska zaměřuje především na příhraniční regiony České republiky. Průřezově tak bude probíhat s ohledem na tematickou prioritu NAKI 1.1.a). Hlavními cíli řešení projektu jsou vytvoření a ověření vytvořeného nástroje (metodiky) a dále vzorové zpracování výběru lokalit do formy specializované mapy s odborným obsahem. Ta bude přestavovat různé modelové úrovně dokumentace hřbitovů a pasportizace fondu sepulkrálních památek s využitím komplexního interdisciplinárního pojetí, tj. sledování aspektů kulturně-historických, umělecko-historických i materiálových, hledisko údržby a udržitelného zachování. Projekt tak přispěje k naplnění tematické priority 2.1.c. Zkušenosti budou sdíleny především formou hlavních výstupů: metodiky, specializované mapy s odborným obsahem a uspořádáním výstavy s kritickým katalogem, věnované sepulkrálním památkám jako dokumentu kulturního vývoje regionů bývalé sudetské oblasti před rokem 1945.

The aim of the project was to create and implement optimal tools for the identification, comprehensive survey, documentation, and presentation of sepulchral monuments located in unused or partially abandoned cemeteries, which are carriers of cultural and heritage value, but are currently endangered by destruction or changes that would fundamentally alter their nature. The project goals were achieved. The main results of the project were applied and approved 100%, the secondary results were applied and approved 80%, and other results of the project were applied and approved 100%.
