    Hlavním cílem projektu je připravit cestu pro první pokusy interakce laserového záření s vysokou intenzitou s hmotou a to pomocí 10 PW laserového svazku na zařízení ELI-Beamlines. Teoretická/simulační část projektu bude identifikovat nejzajímavější fyzikální procesy vhodné pro první sérii experimentů. Také poskytne důležité informace o tom, jak tyto studované procesy diagnostikovat a měřit. S tímto projektem je spojený také upgrade technologické infrastruktury týkající se 10 PW laserového svazky. Ten poskytne mnohem lepší flexibilitu při provádění očekávaných experimentů v oblasti interakce velmi intenzivního pole s látkou.

    The project has advanced knowledge of laser-accelerated electrons and ions, as well as the generation of high-energy photons. This is all under new conditions where radiation reaction and quantum electrodynamics processes such as electron-positron pair formation and vacuum polarization are becoming important. The theoretical/simulation program of the project addressed the new area of laser-matter interaction at very high field strengths and provided the basis for the realization of completely new experiments. An upgrade of the existing 10 PW laser infrastructure was necessary for experimental research in this area of physics, and this was carried out as part of the project. The synergy between theory/simulation and experimental infrastructure has created a world unique centre for the study of new phenomena at the frontiers of knowledge in the field of super-intense laser-matter interaction.
