DP Technology for Art
Project goals
The aim of the project is to create a new multidisciplinary doctoral study program. This doctoral study program is designed to prepare a new generation of multidisciplinary excellence experts from art historians. It will extend the traditionally human-based education of art historians to the field of natural sciences, especially new technologies of physical (optical, mechanical), chemical and biochemical research. This study program will have a scientific, research, social, practical and, last but not least, market potential.

Cílem projektu je vytvoření nového multidisciplinárního doktorského studijního programu. Tento doktorský studijní program je určen pro přípravu nové generace multidisciplinárně zaměřených excelentních odborníků z řad historiků umění. Umožní rozšířit tradičně humanitně založené vzdělání historiků umění o oblast přírodních věd, především nové technologie fyzikálního (optického, mechanického), chemického a biochemického výzkumu. Tento studijní program bude mít vědecký, výzkumný, společenský, praktický a v neposlední řadě i tržní potenciál.

Project results evaluation
A new multidisciplinary doctoral study program was created, which has not yet been offered to art historians in the Czech Republic and has scientific, research, social, practical and also market potential. Students are sent to domestic and foreign internships, to internships with future employers. E.g. an internship organized by the Olomouc Art Museum, consisting of laboratory analysis and field material research directly on an object undergoing historic restoration. As part of the internships, top foreign expertise was made available to the students (thanks to the friendliness of the Swiss restaurateurs involved in the research). A number of professional excursions took place with the involvement of experts from the researcher's workplaces. Excursions were made to professional workplaces and to objects undergoing historical restoration (Prague Castle and other objects and institutions in Prague, Litomyšl State Castle, Šternberk Castle, Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava).
