Cesta přes genetické modifikace se ukázala jako příliš zdlouhavá, finančně a časově náročná s nejistým výstupem. Do řešení bylo proto implantováno využití dalších modifikací, zejména klasických technik s důrazem na vlastní technologii biotransformace.
