This project aims to enhance participation and promote equality in Adult Education and Learning (ALE) in the Czech Republic by developing a new participation model grounded in the COM-B behaviour framework—focusing on capability, opportunity, and motivation factors—and employing a longitudinal research design. It investigates how these COM-B factors influence participation in ALE and formulates evidence-based recommendations to support participation and equality. While previous research has examined sociodemographic and macro-social factors of participation, it has yet to systematically explore a range of COM-B factors using a nationally representative sample and a longitudinal approach. To address this gap, the project proposes a three-year study that will provide insights into how COM-B factors interact with established determinants of ALE participation. The findings will contribute to a deeper understanding of the dynamics shaping participation in ALE, alongside recommendations for policymakers aimder at expanding access to participation in ALE.
