Modelling Evolutionary Pathways of Moons and Exoplanetary Systems

  • Annotation in Czech

The dynamics of giant planet moons and short-period terrestrial exoplanets is shaped by the complex interplay between internal evolution and external forces, with tidal deformation playing a crucial coupling role. Observations of volcanic and cryovolcanic activity, subsurface oceans, and surface deformation across the Solar System, along with studies of exoplanetary systems such as TRAPPIST-1, underscore the need for a comprehensive understanding of these interactions. This project investigates the multi-scale coupling between thermal, rotational, and orbital evolution in planetary bodies, focusing on melt as well as structural and rheological complexities. Through advanced theoretical and numerical models, we will explore how melt affects the internal dynamics of icy shells and silicate-rich interiors, the role of tidal deformation in energy dissipation, and feedback mechanisms driving planetary evolution. The results will predict observable signatures, guiding future space missions targeting moons and the characterisation of exoplanets.
