Quantum and classical switching in driven underdamped Josephson junctions

  • Annotation in Czech

Josephson junctions exhibit unique quantum behavior and are crucial for advanced superconducting electronics and quantum computing. Here we aim to characterize the escape dynamics of the Josephson phase from metastable states under both constant and alternating bias currents. We will develop semi-analytical methods and efficient numerical schemes characterizing quantum dissipative escape as well as classical underdamped and non-Markovian escape. Furthermore, we will create machine learning tools for analyzing memory effects and fast simulations of non-Markovian junction dynamics. We also plan to analyze experimental data on Josephson junction switching and the effects of colored noise. By integrating analytical, numerical, and machine learning techniques, our approach will enhance understanding of switching behavior in Josephson circuits, particularly regarding non-Markovian dynamics and noise effects. Through collaboration with experimental groups, we will validate and apply our models to real-world measurements.
