Open-closed duality in String Field Theory
Annotation in Czech
Open-closed duality is one of hallmarks of string theory which sets it apart from usual field theories. What would appear as ultraviolet divergence of the theory of the open strings can be reformulated as infrared divergence in the closed string sector. In this proposal we shall address this duality from a novel perspective using string field theory. Related long standing question is whether open string field theory by itself is fully consistent at the quantum level. We will study this problem in several string models by a variety of methods, including those based on symmetries and integrable structures of string field theory, which we plan to further develop as well. Major application should be a better understanding of the duality between matrix models and the noncritical c=1 string at the nonperturbative level.
